Potential New Models and Looks in The War Within

Here are all the new models - and new looks for older models - that we've found so far in the The War Within Beta Test. This page includes tameable looks that are brand new in The War Within, and also those that aren't tameable in the Beta but we think have potential as Hunter pets.

By default, unused appearances are hidden expandable pop-out sections.

A fun addition for the crab family, the hermit crab shares all the same colours as the regular crab model, combined with eight possible shell patterns. This results in 168 possible combinations, though only a small proportion of these are currently available.

A bunch of novel hermit crab/shell combinations are available on the Isle of Dorn.

Grong, the second boss from the Battle of Dazar'alor raid, is finally tameable! Unfortunately, because of the nature of this raid, only Horde players can access and tame him.

Undead GorillaAvailable to Alliance Hunters Only

Family: Gruffhorns

Model: Ramoliths

The rocky rams of Dorn come in six lovely colours, and also without or without moss or grass. They also have several possible variations in horn shape (including a lack thereof).

Family: Hoppers

Model: Skippers

Arguably the most adorable creature in The War Within, these skippers come in five bright colours and have some cute animations! A few tames (but not all) also make sounds when clicked and these are noted on each looks page.

Model: Loa Toads

This model varies a little from the standard dire toad model in that it has a crown of vegetation, glazed eyes, and more spikes. These fresh tames are all from limited islands in Island Expeditions and are difficult to find. You may have to (a) wait for a week when appropriate islands are up, and (b) be prepared to check dozens and dozens of islands before you find one with a loa toad. We believe that the yellow version is also available but we haven't managed to locate one to test in person.

Family: Hydras

Model: Chimeric Hydras

This eerie and very cool chimeric beast is a boss in the Uldir raid in Zandalar. While it's probably not strictly a hydra, that family is still the closest fit we have.

Tameable appearances

Family: Moths

Model: Candleflies

A cute addition to the moth family, these glowing beauties come in four colours. They also have three possible antenna shapes, though not all combinations are currently available.

Family: Raptors

Model: Armoured Ravasaurs

This fancy model is used for a pair of mounts. Since other saddled raptors have been tameable, we're including them for completeness.

T'zala, a beautifully-detailed undead ravasaur, is summoned by the final boss in the Kings' Rest dungeon.

Magma

Family: Rodents

Model: Moles

These very cute new moles have fanciful variations in the shapes of their noses and teeth. There's also variation in the subtle stony bumps at the top of the legs of this model - some looks have them and some don't - so even though they're not remarkably different we've had to catalog both options.

Family: Serpents

Model: Electric Eels

We're still unsure if this model is meant to be tameable or if it's a mistake that will be corrected before launch.

These giant, electris morays have never previously been tameable, and the majority still aren't. This single tameable version from Azj-Kahet seemed to be a mistake, but it's remained tameable throughout the Beta test and there's now a good chance it'll remain so until launch.

Family: Spiders

Model: Undercrawlers

Family: Stags

Model: Shalehorns

There's nothing soft and sparkly about these wicked unicorns! Their corkscrew horns seem designed to maximize impaling damage (or possibly for opening giant wine bottles).

Family: Warp Stalkers

Model: Warp Stalkers

Family: Wasps

Model: Cinderbees

These fiery bees are a truly stunning new addition to the Wasp family! There are three possible variations in antenna shape, though the majority of tames at this stage use the largest one. Note that the blue texture is currently unavailable on this model - to get these images I had to apply textures from the related mount model.

Family: Wolves

Model: Maned Wolves

These wolves with cloth bands on their legs and tails are finally tameable! All seven are rares in Island Expeditions so you'll need to (a) focus on islands where they could spawn and (b) be prepared to run those islands many times in order to find the rare you want. The textures these beasts use are actually from the seven wolf mounts, but applied to the non-mount model.

Family: Worms

Exotic family: Beast Masters only - level 10+.Exotic Family
Can only be used by Beast Mastery hunters that have reached level 10.

Model: Jawcrawlers

Gnarly new additions to the Worm family, jawcrawlers can have variations in their prodigious graspers and mandibles. The stubby, stunted variants are only subtly different to those lacking them entirely - but some looks have them and some don't so we've had to catalog all possibilities.

Model: Sea Slugs

These seaslugs have never previously been tameable, and the majority still aren't. This single tameable version from Azj-Kahet seemed to be a mistake, but it's remained tameable throughout the Beta test and there's now a good chance it'll remain so until launch.

Currently untameable models

Family: Bats

Model: Spiny Bats

This gorgeous new bat model has sadly not been used on any wild beasts and isn't tameable for now. It's been used as a druid flight form for Harronir, but we could still see wild beast versions in the future.

These looks have not been found in the game so far.

Family: Birds of Prey

Model: Phoenixes

Sadly, these two new phoenix looks aren't available for taming. They've been created for mage abilities but will hopefully appear on wild beasts in the future.

These looks have not been found in the game so far.

Family: Gruffhorns

Model: Mosswools

Endemic to the Isle of Dorn, sadly these pretty floral ewes remain untameable.

Unconfirmed or currently untameable appearances

So far, these looks have only been found on untameable creatures.

These looks have not been found in the game so far.

Family: Wolves

Model: Storm Wolves

While non-spirit versions of the storm wolf exist in the game, this model is only tameable as the spirit beast, Hati.

These Dorn wolves will remain untameable as these looks are intended to remain unique to Hati.

Unconfirmed or currently untameable appearances

So far, these looks have only been found on untameable creatures.
